okie anyway ~~
WE SURVIVED EARTHQUAKE !!!


THIS IS OUR STORY (part 1):

we left SINGAPORE at around 5am plus on 11/03/2011

[[ on DELTA =D their service is good ! thumbs up for their entertainment programmes also! ]]

we were super excited and super looking forward to our PERFECT JAPAN TRIP~
we spent alot of time and effort on our itinerary
and of cos
MONEY $.$

we reached JAPAN at around 12.15pm (sg time)
bt we went ard looking for LAWSON to get our GHIBLI MUSEUM'S ticket
*LAWSON is a convenient store ~ like 7/11*
we got lost =x because apparently LANGUAGE BARRIER totally owned us
after we finally found our way to LAWSON
we spent quite some time trying to figure out how to use their machine to buy their tix


japaneses are VERY VERY VERY friendly
they closed their cashier just to help us
*touched*
after we've gotten our tix ~
we walked ard LAWSON for a little while
goin GA-GAAAA over all their cute little snacks and food






after having much fun in LAWSON
we finally decided to make our way to the subway underneath NARITA AIRPORT
and once agn
we got lost =x LOL !
we cant find the booth to get our JR passes ~~
when we finally found the booth
me and JUNE dear went into the counter to get our passes
while we are trying to think of what to get


suddenly
the floor starts moving slightly


i turned ard and looked at JUNE ~
i asked "ehhh shaking eh ! isit earthquake ar ? "
she said " i think so neh ! "


we were so calm becos we thought its normal for JAPAN to hav earthquake you see~
so we just continue looking at those tickets
until the shaking got worse
i looked at the staffs over the counter
they gave me the "OMG IM HORRIFIED" look
i turned ard and look at my boy
he and chinhwee totally did not feel the shake at all ~
cos they were super into their conversations


so i knocked on the glass door and tell him that its SHAKING
i told him to turn ard ~
the signboards in the subway were alrdy swinging side to side ~
so i told JUNE that we shl go out and join the boys just in case if it got worse~ we wont get separated ~
by the time we got outside
the shaking got really outrageous


ITS LIKE WE ARE SURFING ON THE FLOOR ~
its difficult to even stand still
people started getting out of stores, screaming and running
the situation was very chaotic and super MOVIE-LIKE
but even until that pt of time
we were still very calm


SUDDENLY
the whole place black-out
apparently that doesnt help the situation at all~
theres screaming, running and the earthquake's rumbling sound
i just hold on to my boy's arm and our luggage trolley all the time
i dont feel scare at all
maybe cos we didnt know the magnitude of it
and all the while we were "admiring" the whole situation
ITS JUST LIKE A SCENE TAKEN OUT OF A MOVIE
seriously !
it feels so UNREAL and its like im not part of it ~
im just WITNESSING it ~
the feeling was awkward =[



slowly the building stops shaking
the lights came on
security guards started running in and making announcement with their loudspeakers


we were very lost ~
the guys went over to ask the guards what is the situation now and etc
the guards said that the subway is closed dued to the quake
we wont be able to tk the train now
so we ran up into the open carpark directly outside NARITA AIRPORT
just in case theres more aftershocks


i regretted carrying two luggages lahh =x
we got to run up a long flight of stairs
and i couldnt even drag my 15kg luggage up
my poor boy has to carry his own luggage and mine tog while we ran for our lives

we were then stranded outside the airport for a few hours
a few hours of cold, hunger and stress
cause we didnt knw whats goin on outside our area
we dont even knw whether our trip is still on or not ~


reception was bad
people called my hp to look for me
i couldnt even recieve calls
i hav to call my parents SO MANY TIMES
so that i can get through the line
everyone outside NARITA AIRPORT were frantically pressing on their hps


[[ with everyone who were evacuated from the airport ]]

[[ i was super duper cold ! the winds were merciless~ cold ttm ~ ]]

thats when my mum called me back and tell me that the magnitude of the earthquake was 8.9
and theres a tsunami at SENDAI
we were then shocked
so the quake that we experienced was quite bad
no wonder the japaneses were crying and sobbing after the shake was over at the subway


there were super alot of aftershocks after we got out of the airport
for that few hrs
we were staring at the airport shaking with the quake
buses, signboards, overhead bridges were shaking too
we stood in places where theres nth above our head
in case anything breaks above us
we can die please ~


we were also freezing outside ~
the cold winds made us feel worse
so we opened up our luggages to get our coats out


after the aftershocks got better
people started goin back into the airport because its getting colder alrdy
we went back too
just in case we missed out any announcements and etc
bt we stood super near the exit
so that in case smth goes wrong
we can get out fast



with much disappointment
all the announcements were in JAPANESE~
we felt super annoyed because we dont uds at all


thats when we saw light at the end of the tunnel !
we heard someone translating the announcement in ENGLISH near us
we sent my boy to spy on what shes saying
thats when we knew that the SUBWAY are closed, HIGHWAY are closed and our airport is closed as well~
so we can say that we are REALLY STRANDED



while we are inside the airport
theres still alot of aftershocks ~
i feel that its scarier to be inside the building because the glass windows ard us are rattling and vibrating
its damn freaking scary
its like as if the glasses will shatter anytime



after we got comfortable with all the aftershocks
*because its shaking all the time !*
a policeman came in and made an announcement agn
people started chionging out of the airport
we asked the lady whats happening
she said that the policeman came in to tell us to get out asap
because another big aftershock is coming
so we ran out agn ~ with our luggages and etc


by the time we got out ~
it was ard 5pm+ alrdy
its getting darker and the temperature dropped
me and JUNE were totally shivering
my nose was frozen and my hands feel retarded because its NUMB alrdy


we secretly followed the lady and we asked her for updates abt the quake
she's actually a JAPAN TOUR GUIDE and she had 3 ABC aunties with her !
finally someone who can speak JAPANESE, CHINESE AND ENGLISH !!
we were super happy until they seemed to be leaving
we asked them what are their plans
they explained that they are goin to WALK *yes walk* 4KM to ANA CROWNE HOTEL~
so we asked whether can we follow them
they gladly agreed and even helped us with our luggages
you know what ?
i will never ever forget them
they helped us so much
and we were lucky that we followed them in the end
if not we will be sleeping in the airport/open air carpark


the 4km walk was the longest walk ever
in my mind
i was thinking abt alot of things
the quake finally "HIT" me hard
because at that moment
we still dont know how serious this whole earthquake/tsunami was
so we were still thinking abt how shl we continue our trip etc


it was cold
and my hands were painful after dragging the luggage with me for so long
we felt sooooooo relieved after we reached the hotel


almost all the hotel guests were in the hotel lobby
theres a tv set in the middle of the lobby
thats when we were shocked by the DAMAGES the quake and tsunami caused
it was scary and at that pt of time
they confirmed a total of 16 deaths
*now theres a total of approx 20k+ deaths alrdy~ sigh...*
and the impact of the quake HIT me 2nd time


the aunties asked us to put our luggages aside, act like hotel guests and ate their buffets
we were super thankful and grateful for their help
sighhh
i wonder how are they now =[
T.T


after that we intended to sleep at the hotel lobby
we tried to relax by playing MONOPOLY DEAL and talked shit with each other
the hotel staffs even made us TEA, COFFEE AND LITTLE SNACKS
even thou they knew that we are not hotel guests
THUMBS UP FOR JAPANESES
really~



after that they gotten us a room at 10TH floor
scary right ?
we planned our luggages layout so that we could run out of the room anytime
we checked out all the emergency exits and staircases
super stressful
we watched news ALL NIGHT
ate cup noodles for supper
took alot of pics because its a MUST
we need to rmb this whole experience for life
